Detox and Slimming
A study carried out by the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry 2005 evaluated the comparison of oolong, black, pu erh and green teas and its hypolipidermic effect on the body. The results showed that all 4 teas lowered levels of triglyceride, but oolong, pu erh and black teas were the most effective. In certain cultures around the world herbal teas are consumed to promote weight loss and easy digestion. For example, mate tea is a traditional South American tea, drunk particularly in Argentina. It is believed drinking mate regularly can help the body’s digestion system functions. For centuries it has been used as a weight loss tool and an appetite suppressant. In India fennel is well known to help with digestion and overall help to detoxify the body.
We have put together a list of teas which are believed to have detoxifying and weight loss properties.
Anji Bai Cha – This premium, delicate early spring green tea has a unique shape like a pine needle with a very pale green color reminiscent of soft green jade. The tea was originally grown in Anji, Zhejiang region about 15 years ago.

Fennel – Fennel has always been associated with promoting weight loss and youthful looks. It is now believed to help with symptoms associated with the digestive system such as colic, wind, indigestion and heartburn.
Formosa Oolong – Formosa Oolong (or Wulong) is one of the most popular teas in Taiwan because it is very smooth, smells like orchids and has a wonderful rich and fruity flavour. Compared to other Oolongs, this tea has both darker leaves and infusion. It is also popular with those on calorie control diets.

Kabuse No. 1 – Kabuse No.1 is the best green tea or sencha from the main May harvest. Characteristic of half-shaded green teas, the Kabuse No.1 has a more complex flavour profile versus other sencha teas due to the development of active substances in a tea plant during the shading process.
Matcha Premium Organic – The Matcha Premium is a Ceremonial Matcha, a classic for the traditional Japanese Tea ceremony. This matcha has a slightly nutty taste with a harmonious balance of bitter-sweet.
